Calling all writers!
The Icelandic Festival of Manitoba invites you to submit previously unpublished poetry (three entries per person) and/or a short story (one per person-maximum of 1200 words) for this year’s contests. Winning entries will be published in the festival program and/or on the festival website. And new this year, winning entries and honourable mentions may also be published in the Icelandic Connection magazine.
You don’t need to be of Icelandic descent to submit an entry however material reflecting Icelandic culture and interests will be given preference, as will entries that reflect the 2021 theme, “Icelandic at Heart / Íslenskt Innst Inni”
This year’s judge is Elin Thordarson who has a Master’s degree from the University of Manitoba’s Icelandic Department. She is writer and translator working in the children’s department in Winnipeg’s largest public library. Elin is also the editor of Icelandic Connection magazine.
